Here’s quite a Mythbusters story making the rounds about their accidentally blasting a cannonball out of their usual shooting range and into the neighboring residential area… and the most interesting find was from a blogger (at laslow.net) who saved a pre-accident photo of Kari Byron posing with a cannon:

Why is this a big deal right now? Well, here are links to some of the popular stories about what happened after this photograph was taken:

Okay, I’ll admit that I’ve dropped off the scene for awhile as well… but I didn’t have a national real estate television show with thousands and thousands of fans. So, what have Richard C. Davis and Ginger Alexander (and the rest of Team Trademark) been doing lately?
Their online radio show (with live video) has been gone for more than a year (formerly at www.trademarkradio.com)
The Richard Davis twitter feed is updated every few days with a sports link or a real estate link, but not much more than that.
The Trademark Properties twitter feed hasn’t been touched in months.
The merchandise sold through www.trademark-productions.net must not exist anymore because that domain has lapsed into a search site (but it had some fun Trademark Properties t-shirts and hats in 2008…)
The Trademark Properties YouTube site hasn’t been updated since 2007 and the last login was a year ago.
Wow! That’s about as close to “dropped off the face of the earth” as you’re going to get. What happened?

Was Ginger pregnant? I know it’s a a stupid question becuase the answer should be really simple… but for the life of me (well, “for the life ‘few minutes of Googling’ of me”) I couldn’t figure out if that was just a rumor of if there’s a little Richard C. Davis running around somewhere?
Sorry that I don’t have better Trademark information here; you gotta admit, the buzz kinda died off.
Comment and let me know if Ginger’s pregnancy was real or just a few people looking at the wrong photos at the wrong angle…

There’s hope for those of us who’ve been missing Richard, Ginger and Team Trademark! According to a real estate web site in Charleston, The Real Estate Pros is coming back next month:
Richard C. Davis, who heads Team Trademark, intends to document the lodge’s rehabilitation as part of the real estate company’s reality series, due to air on TLC in April. The show had an 18 month hiatus.

Thanks to a comment from a dedicated att.ention.net reader, we learn that Kari Byron really is pregnant.
Unless Adam Savage’s Twitter account has been hacked or he’s more than a month early on an April Fool’s joke, he reports the breaking news:
This just in Mythbuster fans: Kari Byron is pregnant! Congrats Kari, I can’t wait to meet the new mythbuster!

For some reason, I just had a huge spike in Deanne Bell visitors. Why? Other than passing by the TV monitors at work and seeing a clip of Smash Lab, I haven’t seen much about her (or the program). Is something going on that I (and the general Deanne Bell fan community) should know about? Post a comment and let us know!

I think I might have the answer to why Smash Lab doesn’t seem as “engaging” as MythBusters (though, judging from the comments on the rest of this site, that’s far from certain).
Smash Lab conversations seem more “scripted”.
But, looking at Mythbusters, it’s certainly “scriped” as well. Maybe it’s that the Smash Lab gang just looks like they’re trying too hard to be spontaneous?
That means we need to find interviews with the Smash Lab “cast”, outside of the show. Especially Deanne. Hmmm…

Inspired by Trisha’s comment, I pulled up some photos of Minnie Driver… but I’m just not seeing the Ginger Alexander connection. Maybe I needed to watch the Ellen show.
Speaking of Ginger… is it me, or has some of the Richard Davis magic worn off? Maybe my schedule just changed and I’m not watching as much TV or something… but there doesn’t seem to be as much “Real Estate Pros” buzz out there anymore?

As the comments roll in, they reflect the same thing I’ve felt as I’ve watched Smash Lab: for whatever reason, Deanne Bell is not the next Kari Byron, and Smash Lab is not the next Mythbusters.
But… why?
On paper, Smash Lab looks like a slam-dunk. But in reality, compared to Mythbusters, it seems… well, “dumb”. Sure, Adam and Jamie (and Grant and Kari and Tory) do silly things, but there seems to be an air of, “Yeah, it’s silly, but it’ll be cool!” In Smash Lab, silly stuff seems to be done in the name of scientific investigation.
Example: Last night I caught the “magnetic fire escape” episode, where their two choices were “freefall to a dead stop at the bottom” or “creep your way down slowly”. (The concept of “use increasingly strong magnets to decelerate a freefall” never appeared.) So, to “test” this, they used a 30-degree ramp… and freefall-dude ended up crashing off the bottom. On Mythbusters, I could see Adam doing the same thing… but it would be in the context of, “Hey, this looks like fun! I want to try it!” Not “I’m riding a glorified skateboard to gather valid data”.
Anyway, back to the Deanne vs. Kari question. With all due respect, Deanne (who, I’m sure, is very bright) comes across as a ditz. Kari doesn’t. Why?
They’re both cute. Is it just because Deanne is “girl next door who’ll grow up to be June Cleaver” cute and Kari is “girl next door who’s riding a tractor” cute? Is it really just the difference in their voices? Are we guys blinded by Kari’s red hair and can’t see Deanne’s hidden Kari qualities? The mystery continues…
